Hey folks

Here I am again with Part 2 of my travel diary of Jeju-island! You might have looked forward to it or you didn't care but you get it eitherway hehe. So let's get right into it:

DAY 4

Today my travel buddy and I split up to do an individual chill day. Since I really like to see stuff I decided to bike down the coast after having brunch at a nearby café. I rented a KakaoT-bike which is an electric bicycle and to be honest at first I thought a normal one would do but after cycling the first hills, I grew pretty fond of it. My destination was Jungmun Saekdal Beach which was about a 40 min bike ride from our AirBnB. It’s one of those view sand beaches in Seongwipo I could find and I really wanted to feel some sand under my feet cause it definitely had been way too long. As soon as I arrived I bought some tangerines from a little market stand at the beach entrance (these are literally everywhere here) and went down to the beach. Although it’s supposed to be winter the water didn’t feel as cold as expected. As the day progressed more and more people came, under them were football training groups and surfers. I won't lie, at this point I felt pretty bad watching them work out while I was munching my tangerines haha. As soon as the sun started to go down the waves grew a lot bigger which also was the point where most surfers gathered in the water to try their luck. And this also was the point for me to search for a bus back home because busses on Jeju can be a real pain. That’s mainly because Naver Maps hardly has any information on them.

DAY 5

Since we already spend quite a lot of time around Seongwipo we decided to head east down the coast to do some sightseeing at Seongsan Ilchulbong. This is an inactive volcano whose crater is about 190 m high. The sight at the top of it was incredible. Since it’s located at the end of a peninsula the surroundings were characterized by a lot of small lakes and hills. Also the water was so clear that you could easily see it's beautiful color play under the shining sun. At the bottom of Ilchulbong I took the chance and did a short speed boat travel around the volcano and besides having fun, I saw the scenery which the normal eye wouldn’t from the coast. The small beach where the boats started from consisted of black sand and since it was the first time for me to see it was even more fascinating.

DAY 6

Individual day again ~ I really liked the bike ride last time so I just went for another one. My destination this time was Hwanguji Natural Pools. This time while I was riding along the sea I even saw a big group of dolphins chilling pretty close to the shore. I never thought there would be dolphins here on Jeju but after some research I found out that you could really see some around here and there even were tours to catch a glimpse of them! Lucky me saw them for free haha.
For Hwanguji there are two natural pools in total and if it would have been summer it would have been the perfect spot to take a dive into the clear water of Seongwipo. They are still connected to the sea but the danger of being sweaped out of it is quite small. I reached there after about a 25 min ride and had to climb down some pretty steep stairs but it was worth it I would say. The last days kind of drained my energy a bit too much. As I’m writing this I’m sitting at the top of the cliff at Hwanguji, just wearing a hoodie. Feeling the soft warm breeze while listening to some music just feels so peaceful and definitely gave me some of my energy back. Having nothing on my mind after a busy semester once in a while really feels amazing.

Part three is coming up soon but before that enjoy my picture collection of these three days hihi

Bye for now~
