In-house training for our employees

The Staff Development department offers employees of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena an internal further education and training programme every semester.   • General training programme

  • English courses

    The English courses are open to all employees of the Friedrich Schiller University.

    A person employed at the University of Jena can attend an English course (I - V) for a maximum of 5 semesters. Lateral entry to the various courses is possible at any time. In order to use the language skills learnt regularly, it is possible to take part in the course English Conversation in the afternoon or English Conversation at noon - regardless of the courses previously attended. Newcomers can attend taster sessions for the respective course.

    In the case of language courses, employees are generally required to make a financial contribution due to the importance of the course, which also extends beyond the workplace. A personal contribution of €15.00 (10 90-minute sessions) must be paid privately.

    In addition to our tender of face-to-face English courses, we would like to draw your attention to another option for independent study|self-directed learning|self-study.

    The German Academic Exchange Service e.V. (DAAD)External link offers various English exercises on its internet platform for "employees of the university administration" after registrationExternal link. Registration and doing the exercises costs nothing.

  • Tenders for professors

    The Friedrich Schiller University Jena would like to provide ongoing support for the work of professors through the following tenders:

    1. qualification programme for tenure-track professorships

    A two-stage qualification programme is offered for the target group of tenure-track professors, junior professors and junior research group leaders at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. The programme's workshops are also open to all other professors at the university. Information on the structure and registration can be found here de.

    2. professionalisation of teaching and leadership | certificate programme for professors

    In cooperation with the Service Centre for Higher Education Didactics (LehreLernen) de, we offer a certificate programme for the professionalisation of teaching and leadership. Information on the content, programme and registration can be found here de.

    3. individual coaching / coaching in small groups

    As part of the certificate and qualification programmes for professors, individual coaching can also be financed under certain requirements. The Staff Development department is responsible for finding experienced coaches.

    Small group coaching sessions are also tendered. The rhythm, duration and dates of further meetings are agreed at the introductory meeting. Ideally, a group is formed that can continue to act independently in collegial advisory service(s)|consultations beyond the official framework.

    Issues that can be discussed in individual or group coaching sessions include, for example

  • Health offers

  • Science Management

    Science managers work at the interface between science and administration, e.g. as faculty directors, coordinators of research projects and lecturers. In order to support science managers in their day-to-day challenges, we offer further training courses specifically for this target group. Information on registering

The Qualifications Portal is the central platform for training courses at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. As a member of the University of Jena, you can register with your login credentials. Please add the missing information when registering for the first time.

You can select an event in the portal catalogues and send a booking request. Once you have submitted your registration, you will receive an automatic confirmation of your booking request.

You will be admitted to the event if you meet the eligibility requirements and there are enough free spaces. You will then receive an admission confirmation via email.

If you have successfully registered for an event but are unable to attend, please de-register in the Qualifications PortalExternal link. You can de-register from booked events in the ‘My Events’ section of your account. You will receive a confirmation of your cancellation via email.
