Description: 

In order to connect end devices to the university network via LAN cable, the University Computer Center offers switched network sockets on the premises of the University of Jena. The necessary network cable (RJ45 CAT) must be procured by the user. Two types of connection are available:

1. VLAN (Stationary terminal):
Is intended for stationary service or research terminals in the corresponding VLAN. Please contact the responsible person External link at your institution.

To obtain network access you need
- Activation of the junction box
- Activation of the IEEE 802.1X login procedure (for further authorizations)

2. LAN for mobile terminals:
Is available in libraries and facilities of the University of Jena and is intended for wired mobile devices (laptop, tablet, etc.) and provides general Internet access (guest access). The connection to the university network is established using the IEEE 802.1X login procedure (similar to Eduroam).
