Representation for Employees with Disabilities
Welcome to the Representation for Employees with Disabilities at Friedrich Schiller University Jena
‘Not to be born disabled is no achievement but a gift which can be taken away from each and every one of us at any time!’
Richard von Weizsäcker
Our responsibilities include:
- Promoting the inclusion of people with severe disabilities at work, representing their interests, and supporting them by offering advice.
- Ensuring that all legal regulations protecting the rights of people with severe disabilities are observed (laws, ordinances, collective agreements, service agreements, and administrative instructions). This applies particularly to the employer’s duties stated under Section 71, 72 and 81 of Volume IX of the German Social Code (Sozialgesetzbuch, SGB IX).
- Applying for (preventive) measures that support people with severe disabilities.
- Managing complaints and feedback from people with severe disabilities and, where appropriate, negotiating with the employer to have them dealt with. We will always keep you up to date on the status and outcome of these negotiations.
- Offering support with applications to have your disability recognized (including type and degree) and to receive an equivalent status certificate (Gleichstellungsantrag) issued by the Federal Employment Agency.
