From modern research laboratories to lecture halls, seminar rooms and offices to tea kitchens and a cafeteria – the Free State of Thuringia, represented by Friedrich Schiller University, is responsible for planning and procuring the furniture for the buildings. State-of-the-art computing and media technology will be purchased, as well as subject-specific equipment for the library. Planning and procurement are based on what is already available and can be reused.
The European Union will cover more than half of the costs for equipping the building of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and for the University Computer Center. A total of € 10.8 million is available for this purpose, of which around € 6.5 million is co-financed by the European Union within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund (EFRE – Europäischen Fonds für regionale Entwicklung). The state of Thuringia will cover the remaining costs as part of the equipment budget. As an introductory equipment procurement, new security components and a laboratory and test environment will initially be installed for the data center at the "Am Johannisfriedhof" site.
The equipment budget for the library building with cafeteria as well as for the high-rise building of the Institute of Psychology together amounts to approx. 6.1 million € and is financed by the Free State of Thuringia.
