Scientists from Friedrich Schiller University Jena present their work, explain research results and engage in conversation with citizens in a variety of formats. They provide insights into their fields and everyday life in research, let people look over their shoulders and provide information on current discourses. The university opens up and creates spaces for research and society to meet.

    Lecture series and individual lectures Reporting, presenting, discussing – in order to reach interested citizens and enter into conversation with them, lectures by experts on research foci or current topics have become established.

    Festivals On the one hand, dedicated scientists present their work during large festivals that resonate throughout the city. The University of Jena often organizes such events together with other institutions and offers a colourful programme of universally understandable research. On the other hand, the University of Jena uses festive occasions to present current research.

    Exhibitions The University of Jena owns extensive collections which it regularly makes accessible to the public – mostly in thematically developed exhibitions. In addition, various museums are part of the University or the University is involved in them.

    Media The University of Jena informs about the research of its scientists and life at the University on multimedia channels – for example, in a research magazine, in various podcasts and in videos. It is also active on numerous social media platforms.

    Communications & Marketing The press office regularly publishes news to inform about the research results and projects of the scientists. It also trains the experts in dealing with the media and refers them to journalists. Last but not least, the University presents itself and its research at various trade fairs.
