Not only in times of "fake news" and "alternative facts" does the University of Jena feel obliged to inform, to consolidate scientific understanding in society and to intervene in current discourses with professional competence. Researchers provide a basis for social discussions through scientific facts. Current research flows into the classroom through a variety of offers at schools. They also provide insights into everyday research as do citizen science projects that directly involve citizens in scientific work.

University & School In order to convey basic knowledge vividly and make current research tangible, young guests can try their hand in school laboratories and immerse themselves in research environments in various event formats. Jena experts regularly offer further training events and materials for teachers to incorporate current content into lessons.

Citizen Science Involving citizens directly in scientific projects puts data collection on a broad basis, provides new perspectives on research content – and communicates science in a practical way. That's why Jena researchers initiate or participate in citizen science projects.
