Dismantling Invisible Barriers: Recognizing Microaggressions and Fostering a Culture of Belonging

This interactive workshop is designed to provide university staff with a deeper understanding of microaggressions and belonging in the academic workplace. Its aim is to raise awareness of cultural differences and to promote open, respectful, and effective collaboration across the university community.

Mindful Communication in Transcultural Contexts
Date: 12 November 2026, 9am -1pm

In the international academic landscape, a compassionate stance is a key professional competency for fostering inclusion. This four-hour interactive workshop invites staff and faculty members to explore how compassion can transform transcultural interactions and academic teaching.

The workshops can be credited in the "iKompass" certificate program, the intercultural competency passport for employees of the University of Jena. This program helps university employees to overcome challenges that arise during international encounters. Intercultural Competence and Communication - Courses for Self-Study
The FECT and EC2U projects aim to facilitate smoother mobility between European universities and promote intercultural collaboration among academic staff from various regions and disciplines. To support these objectives, we offer opportunities for professional development on the topics of intercultural communication and competence.
