Clara Büchs received one of the six scholarships "Deutschlandstipendium" funded by the Matching-Challenge de 2023.
What are you studying and why did you choose this course?
I am studying Business and Languages with a specialization in Spanish and will be entering my 6th semester. I chose this course because I have always been interested in both areas and I found it great that the two are linked in this case. I've been studying Spanish since the 8th grade and took part in a 2.5-month student exchange to Argentina in the 10th grade. I also thought that in an increasingly globalized world, it wouldn't hurt to add a language to a "simple" business degree.
Why did you apply for the Deutschlandstipendium and what does the support mean for you?
One of the main reasons was of course the financial aspect. The scholarship enables me to be more financially independent and, especially as my semester abroad in Cádiz (Spain) was coming up last winter, it made many things possible for me. In addition to a trip to surrounding cities such as Seville, Granada and Córdoba, I also went on a 5-day trip to Morocco. In the photo we were in the middle of the Sahara desert.
In addition, the Deutschlandstipendium has many different sponsors, many of whom have a large personal network. In this way, I hope to perhaps find an internship and gain first contacts at the start of my professional life.
You received one of the first scholarships financed through crowdfunding. What would you like to tell the people who donated?
Thank you! Thank you for your appreciation, trust and support for young people in their studies! It can make many things easier and possible.
