  • Child-friendly (university) canteen

Children of students (up to the age of 6) receive a free children's portion with the so-called children's card if at least one meal (student, employee or guest) is paid for. Applications can be made at the information centres of the Thuringia student services organisation (a current certificate of student status and a copy of the birth certificate are required).

As a rule, the central university) canteens are equipped with play areas (e.g. Ernst-Abbe-Platz and Philosophenweg) and high chairs - so parents can enjoy their meal together with their children in peace.

  • Breastfeeding and nappy-changing facilities

Are you out and about with your child and need a nappy change or breastfeeding? On the Babymappdf, 3 mb · de - the flyer from the Netzwerk Frühe Hilfen (Early Help Network) you can see all of Jena's family-friendly facilities where nappy changing and breastfeeding are possible.

The central facilities of the University of Jena and the university services organisation (Studierendenwerk Thüringen) canteens are equipped with nappy-changing facilities - there is also a breastfeeding and nappy-changing facility at Ernst-Abbe-Platz at JUniKindern (the flexible childcare service) and in the University Main Building.

  • KidsBox

Many parents are familiar with the following situation: the daycare centre has one or more closing days, the childminder is suddenly ill, grandma and grandpa are away and an important appointment is coming up. The Friedrich Schiller University Jena has the "KidsBox" for such acute childcare bottlenecks. 110cm x 123cm x 66cm (W x H x D) KidsBox can be set up in no time at all and offers everything that makes children's hearts beat faster. While the little ones colour and play or slumber peacefully in the integrated travel cot, parents can attend appointments that cannot be postponed.

The KidsBox can be used by all employees of Friedrich Schiller University. The KidsBox is located at Ernst-Abbe-Platz. For use at other locations, delivery must be organised independently.
