LIGHT’s research area Materials & Nanotechnologies focuses on functional polymers such as synthetic and natural macromolecules, nano-structured materials, sensors, and hybrid materials. This includes the characterization and design of new materials, the modification and molecular characterization of soft matter, (nano)structure formation in solution and at interfaces, manufacturing of customized components and products, as well as modern methods and processes in glass and polymer chemistry. Possible applications range from the life sciences via sensors and artificial photosynthesis to self-healing materials.
