"Close the gap: How can gender aspects be better taken into account in research?"
Onlinediskussion in German with Prof Dr Oliver Werz and Prof Dr Anna Kipp
Moderator: Dr. Michael Wutzler

Gender-specific data is insufficiently recorded in many areas of research and society due to the dominance of male perspectives: for example, in the effects of medication, types of transport, safety technologies and retirement savings. Yet gender sensitivity can lead to higher academic quality and more precise results, which also result in better applications in practice. Last but not least, gender-sensitive research contributes to the development of a society that is more oriented towards equality. To this end, a lot has happened in recent years.

In our discussion, we want to address the challenges and potential that emerge when gender aspects are given greater consideration in research in the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. What strategies help to close this gender data gap and promote equal opportunities in academia? At the event, the new university-wide project "Gender in Focus" will also introduce itself. This project aims to support researchers at the University of Jena in taking gender aspects into account in their research. That is why we also want to explore how you as researchers can develop gender-specific questions for your own academic work.

The event is part of Postdoc Appreciation Week (PAW), which takes place from 16 to 20 September. During this week, research institutions and universities throughout Germany will offer information, workshops and other events related to the postdoc phase. More information about PAW and the entire program of the week can be found hereExternal link
