Federal and state programme of promoting young scientists ("Tenure-Track Programme")

In the  federal and state programme of promoting young scientists that was initiated in 2017 ( Tenure-Track-ProgrammExternal link) a sum total of 1 billion Euro has been made available to fund 1.000 additional professoral appointments with a tenure track at German universities. The new career path towards a life-term professorship has sigjnificantly increased the atractiveness of the German academic system for outstanding national and international academics. The aim of the programme is to create more plannable and transparent career options for early career researchers.

Friedrich Schiller University succeeded with its concept already in the first funding period of the federal and state programme, thus receiving the funding to announce positions for 12 additional tenure track professorships. Since early 2021, these internationally announced professoral positions have all been appointed successfully.
