Since joining Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) in 2017, the professor emeritus and former vice president of OTH Regensburg has played an important role in the areas of teaching, research, professional development, talent training, faculty recruitment and international exchange, first as an advisor in the founding of the university and then from 2018 as the founding dean of SZTU Business School (BS). In addition to his experience in semester operations, Professor Dr Haldenwang can also draw on trusting relationships with relevant departments at university level.

SZTU has a total of approx. 14,000 students enrolled in 18 colleges, of which approx. 1000 students will be enrolled in three Bachelor's programmes in the Business School from Sept. 2024. There are currently 31 professors at BS, all of whom have gained professional and international experience before being appointed to a professorship. This follows the concept of German universities of applied sciences.

Furthermore, SZTU now has more than 90 international co-operations. International Weeks are organised with more than 50 professors and in some cases more than 50 students from many countries. To date, more than 20 summer and winter schools have been organised in Germany, Switzerland, the USA and Singapore. In addition, a mutual exchange between Chinese and German students takes place both at university level and as part of internships. German students can complete their compulsory internships in Chinese companies and Chinese students in German companies.
