Urbanisation, ecology, climate

Over the past four decades, China has experienced more rapid urbanisation than any other country in the world. This represents a huge challenge, not only for the infrastructural development of urban areas, but also for agriculture, the environment and the climate. Now that questions of ecology and climate are vital to humanity's survival, close co-operation with China is essential. The course focuses on the one hand on China's ecological characteristics and the associated social and economic problems; on the other hand on the solution strategies and the areas in which international co-operation is indispensable. The course also aims to initiate or support further research or exchange projects in the fields of environment and climate.
