International student groups coming to Jena

Information for guests

Do you want to visit the University of Jena as a group from abroad? We then kindly ask you or your home supervisor to follow these steps:

  1. Contact a faculty, specific institute or academic chair which you would like to visit.
  2. You should then plan the visit programme together with this unit.
  3. Contact the International Office for a supporting letter, including your detailled programme (including dates, times, places, contents) and the invitation of your academic Jena host.
  4. If you need a financial support for the visit, you may apply for funding at the German Academic Exchange ServiceExternal link (DAAD). You must be able to cover all costs.
  5. Apply for visa, organize your travel and accommodation.
  6. If you are interested in a guided city tour, please contact the Jena Tourist OfficeExternal link.

Information for host units

Are you planning a programme for an international group of students from abroad? On prior request, the International Office can give a presentation of the University’s study options (in German or in English). Please contact the International Office at least 1 month beforehand.

If you want to present the city of Jena to your guests, you can contact the local tourist office which offers city tours for a fee. Alternatively, you can offer a city tour on your own. Do not hesitate to contact the International Office to receive an information sheet.
