The Green Office is bringing the nationwide workshop format #climatechallenge to the University of Jena in the winter semester 2024/25! Both students and employees who want to try out and reflect on climate protection measures in their everyday lives can take part.

#climatechallenge - what is it and what is it about?

This winter semester, the Green Office is organising the #climatechallenge in cooperation with project partners. This is a three-part, interactive workshop format for people interested in sustainability who would like to engage in self-experiments on sustainability, climate change and climate justice.

The event is intended to help raise awareness of resource and environmental protection, experience self-efficacy and community in a group context and generally strengthen the topic of sustainability at our university.

The #climatechallenge was originally launched at the institution of higher education in Konstanz. Since 2023, the #climatechallenge has been further developed by Germanwatch, the Karlsruhe Transformation Centre for Sustainability and Cultural Change (KAT) and netzwerk n e.V. and tendered at (high) schools, other educational institutions and municipalities throughout Germany.

Procedure

The #climatechallenge consists of three workshops and two self-experiments lasting several weeks . The first part is about individual behavioural changes (reducing the footprint), the second part is about socially and politically effective action for more climate protection (increasing the handprint).

The workshop series will take place on the following dates (each afternoon)

  • Thu, 14.11.2024
  • Tue, 10.12.2024
  • Tue, 14.01.2025

Who can take part?

The event is particularly suitable for first-semester students who want to make new contacts at the university and get involved in the field of sustainability. Nevertheless, the invitation to participate is expressly addressed to ALL members of the university - i.e. students from higher semesters and employees are also welcome to participate. Participants will receive a confirmation of participation upon request.
