Technology, digitalisation, innovation

China's unrivalled rise to technological superpower status is a source of amazement and fear, particularly in the western world. The second part of the seminar aims to present the elements of this economic and technological success story in detail. This will be done, among other things, by presenting the Chinese education system and the large Chinese tech companies as well as explaining the Chinese state's innovation and subsidisation policy. This direct state intervention in innovation and economic activity is the major difference to the Western model. The aim of the second part of the course is to provide participants with a plausible and informed explanation of China's innovative strength and to make them aware of the future development potential and the risks inherent in this process.
