Dear students,

Donations for the Corona Emergency Fund are completely used up and it is not possible to apply for funding.

We could help 375 students from 50 nations. This support was made possible by many members of the university who donated: e.g. janitors and secretaries, administrative staff, doctoral candidates, researchers, and even students. In addition, numerous members of our Society of Friends and Patrons, the alumni of the university and representatives from the economy, politics and the city of Jena donated to the Corona Emergency Fund.

We are very grateful for this commitment and dedication. However, we are aware that as a university we could not help every applicant which we would have liked to do, since you, dear students, are in a difficult situation. Therefore, please take note of the following support possibilities.

Stay healthy!
Your Corona Emergency Fund Team

  • Interim financial aid funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research

Interim financial aid provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is intended to help those students who can prove that they are faced with financial hardship caused by the pandemic, who need immediate help and are unable to overcome their pandemic-related hardship by making use of other support.
Interim financial aid can be applied for by German and foreign students who are enrolled at a public or state-recognised higher education institution in Germany. Depending on the proven need, between 100 euros and 500 euros can be paid out as a non-repayable grant.
Applications can only be filed separately for the months June, July and August 2020. A new application in – and for – a new month will only be admissible if the student is still eligible to apply. The decision on granting the interim financial aid is taken by the relevant student union (Studierendenwerk/Studentenwerk) on the basis of the information you provide and within the budget available to it.
