DAAD language and practice scholarship in the People's Republic of China

Target group 

Individuals with little or no experience in China who are seeking careers in a German-Chinese context. Applicants with substantial knowledge or experience related to China are also encouraged to apply.

Application requirements 

Applicants must hold at least a bachelor’s degree in fields such as computer science, natural sciences, engineering, law, political science, economics, social sciences or architecture. Excluded are degrees in medical, humanities, and artistic disciplines.
The DAAD also encourages applications from individuals with professional experience. Applications are open to non-German citizens as well.

Funding is available for

• A two-week preparatory course in language and regional studies at a German language institute for applicants with little or no Chinese language skills (subject to confirmation).
• A ten-month language course in China (at a language school selected by the DAAD), complemented by excursions and visits to research institutions and companies.
• A six-month internship in a Chinese or German-Chinese company or an administrative institution in China.
