Attending two lectures from the China Competence lecture series can be credited towards the China Competence Certificate with 4 teaching units (TU) in the elective module.
For China, 2025 is a particularly challenging year: The tariffs and export controls imposed by the Trump administration on Chinese goods are weakening China’s economy and threatening its path to innovation. At the same time, a severe real estate crisis is unfolding within the country, while sluggish consumer spending and a weak job market are dampening sentiment and jeopardizing China’s success story.
This lecture provides insights into Beijing’s crisis management, its strategies for relations with the "Global South" and Europe, and explores what these developments mean for our relationship with the People's Republic of China.
The lecture will last approximately 45 to 60 minutes (in German), followed by a discussion and an opportunity for questions.
Participation is possible in person at the auditorium in the Haus zur Rosen (within the premises of the Graduate Academy) or via Zoom.
