In Germany, there are numerous organizations providing scholarships for studying abroad, internships abroad, and travel allowances. Some of them allocate their scholarship with a place at one of the foreign institutions of higher education whereas the other only allocate their scholarships and expect their scholarship holders to find a place on their own. Foundations usually encourage the contact among their scholarship holders, too. Under certain circumstances, these networks may represent an essential basis for a scientific or other careers.
