Amalgamate the working and study life together
Even if you mostly study at another institution of higher education, taking a broader view can open up interesting perspectives and provide additional aspects for your studies. Students enrolled at another institution of higher education can apply to be enrolled for parallel studies at our university. If an applicant possess a valid secondary school leaving certificate and the University has sufficient capacity available, the student then is allowed to visit individual courses and may attend specific examinations. If approved, the student will be issued a one-semester ID as a student in parallel studies for specific courses. If you have this ID, you neither have to enrol or pay any semester fees. Being enrolled for parallel studies, you may also study at one of our partner universities within the university association of central German universities (see here). Students from our partner universities in Halle and in Leipzig can also gain this status in Jena.
Applying for parallel studies is not possible if the student has no examination right in the relevant subject. For example, if one of the examinations related to the subject in question is considered definitely failed at the home university.

Deadlines
Generally, the applications for parallel studies for all courses are processed before the semester in question by 15 March or 15 September, respectively. In exceptional circumstances, you may submit your application for attending regular face-to-face courses by Friday of the second week in the lecture period (end of the limitation period).
