Infrastructure
As the University's central IT service provider, the University Computer Centre is responsible for the operation, maintenance and regular renewal of the IT infrastructure and the connected infrastructural services for all subject areas|field of the University. The most important application systems include the University's data and communication networks, the server and storage infrastructures, central data management and basic services such as e-mail, data exchange services such as the FSU Cloud and the provision of PC workstations in the FSU libraries.
Access
With its tender, the University Computer Centre ensures broad and secure access to a wide range of IT services for all affiliates of the university as well as guests and visiting academics. The core component is a comprehensive wired and wireless network, which is secured by an efficient identity and authorisation management system. Various web services also enable secure access to the University Computer Centre's central systems. Participation in national and European IT services such as the German Research Network (DFN) and international education roaming (eduroam) further improves mobility in teaching and research and expands the range of services offered by the University Computer Centre.
