Team development
Staff Development supports team development processes through appropriate team workshops or other accompanying measures with internal or external moderators. The aim of all measures is to improve cooperation and thus ensure the performance of a team. Team development is not a one-off activity, but a process. The initial situation of the respective team and the goals to be achieved within the framework of team development take centre stage. All team development measures are aligned with these and tailored specifically to the team.
Team development accompanied by a facilitator is often useful in the following situations:
- A new manager takes over a team
- A new team is formed
- New team members join the team
- A team's goals, tasks and/or framework conditions change
- There are specific challenges in the collaboration, such as communication problems, conflicts or unclear work processes
Contents/topics of team development measures can include
- The development of goals
- Clarifying roles and tasks, responsibilities and decision-making processes
- Developing rules for cooperation and/or communication
- Recognising and overcoming problems on a factual and relationship level
This is usually accompanied by
- The improvement of the flow of information and communication,
- Strengthening team spirit and togetherness and
- The optimisation of work processes within the team.

Experiential team training at the University Sports Centre
TEAMtraining
The University Sports Centre at Friedrich Schiller University Jena offers experiential training outdoors and in teams. The training is centred around outdoor sports, as nature offers ideal opportunities to tackle and complete tasks together. In contrast to learning situations with a focus on theoretical aspects, the team training at the University Sports Centre stimulates all the senses. The training focuses on the cognitive, sensorimotor and affective levels with a rich variety of experiences on land, on the water and in the air. The training consists of three main factors: experience, community and nature. The sessions have been designed by the University Sports Centre for groups looking for shared experiences, such as faculties, departments, institutes and seminar groups. The University Sports Centre will also be happy to respond to personal requests and put together a special programme – after all, every person and group is unique! Groups can work together to resolve any issues they might have.
