During the doctoral phase, you might face particular challenges: There are typical highs and lows in the course of a doctorate, and it is not uncommon to experience psychological crises associated with anxiety or depressive episodes. We have compiled some stress factors and symptoms which are typical for a doctorate in order to help you take care of yourself and others.

The Friedrich Schiller University helps you to get through the doctoral period well: It supports a good work-life balance, creates opportunities for networking and exchange with other doctoral candidates, offers health courses and university sports courses and helps you to improve your communication and conflict management skills.

If you have a crisis in your motivation or your ability to work, you will also find contact persons for confidential counselling.
