The University of Jena offers its members and affiliates around 260 central and decentral lecture theatres and seminar rooms for research and teaching activities. To ensure an optimal use of space, we use the university's campus management system Friedolin to administrate the allocation of rooms.

While the university always welcomes events and conferences, research and teaching activities will generally take priority and bookings may not block any scheduled courses, seminars or lectures. All remaining time slots and locations may be booked for external events.

Booking requests

Please send us an informal email or complete our  Event Registration Form and send it to raumverwaltung@uni-jena.de.

We will need the following information:

  • When will your event take place (date, time)?
  • How long will it take (incl. time needed before and after the event)?
  • Who will host the event?
  • What is the name of the event (incl. a short description)?
  • Which rooms and how much space will you need?
  • Will you need any additional space for catering?

All other details will be discussed in person once we have received your request.

If you need help choosing the right equipment for your event, the university's Multimedia Centre de will be happy to assist.

Many university’s lecture theatres and seminar rooms are equipped with all the modern media technology you need. Visit the university's Multimedia Centre de to learn more.

To report urgent cases of faulty lecture theatre equipment, please call our emergency number +49 3641 9-404777.

If you need additional power supplies for your event (e.g. for information stalls in foyers or for catering with larger equipment), please submit an Event Electricty Request Formpdf, 358 kb · de. Standard connections are always available (‘Schuko’ or CEE 7/1 type, max. 500 W). If you need a more powerful connection, please let us know the power and connection type needed (Schuko or high-voltage connector). Please ensure to only use electronic devices that meet the VDE’s (German Association of Electrotechnical, Electronic & Information Technologies) standards and bear an official inspection plate in accordance with BGV A3 (‘Berufsgenossenschaftliche Vorgaben’).

Once you have completed this form, please submit it to your relevant contact person and our Lecture Theatre Management team at least ten days before the event.

The University of Jena manages part of Ernst-Abbe-Platz which you can book for your events.

The University Main Building's beautiful courtyard is also available for booking.

Banner spaces

You can book advertising spaces to promote your academic or cultural event at the University of Jena for a maximum of three weeks. Banner spaces are available at:

  • Lecture building at Carl-Zeiß-Str. 3, entrance area (max. 17,00 m x 1,00 m)
  • Lecture building at Carl-Zeiß-Str. 3, galleries (max. 2,00 m x 1,00 m)
  • Campus canteen (max. 7,00 m x 1,00 m)
  • University Main Building at Fürstengraben 1 (max. 8,00 m x 1,60 m)
  • University Main Building, Schlossgasse entrance (max. 4,00 m x 1,40 m)

Display boards

Our display boards can be borrowed for exhibitions and presenting posters, among others. They may only be used and installed on university premises. Please make your own transport arrangements. You can contact the university’s Transport Services de for help.

Measurements: 1.20 m x 1.50 m (modular, with fabric)

To borrow our display boards, please submit a written request to raumverwaltung@uni-jena.de.

We will need the following information:

  • event details
  • loan period (incl. collection and return)
  • location and positioning of the display boards
  • number of display boards needed
