FECT - Foster. European. Competences & Talents.
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports the German universities of the European University Alliances with the national accompanying program "European University Networks (EUN) - national initiative". Within the framework of this program, FSU Jena receives additional funding to implement further measures to sustainably strengthen the European dimension.
Over a funding period of three years (01/2021-12/2023), the program aims to achieve various goals, such as, for example, offering high-quality study programs with digital components, acquiring language and intercultural skills, building a profile through multilingualism, and cooperating with economy and society.
The accompanying program at FSU Jena pursues three main priorities:
- Establishment of qualification programs for all university employees - students, teaching staff and, in particular, administrative staff - to promote multilingualism and intercultural competences
- Digitalization of teaching formats: Development of hybrid formats in collaboration with the
Language Center and the Department of Intercultural Business Communication - Promotion of visibility through broad-based advertising and awareness campaigns
RI4C2 - Research & Innovation For Cities & Citizens
The seven universities composing the European Universities Alliance “EC2U” are again joining forces to extend the activities to the research and innovation fields. The project "Research and Innovation for Cities and Citizens" (RI4C2) is funded by the Horizon 2020 "Science with & for Society" call of the European Commission. The core of the project is the promotion of a pan-European knowledge ecosystem that provides impetus for research and innovation in universities and cities. This will include developing a research and innovation agenda and platform, offering workshops on the topic of people empowerment, and investigating which factors promote the development of a functioning knowledge ecosystem.
The eight work packages (WP) of RI4C2 are:
- WP1 “Transformation management”, led by University of Poitiers
- WP2 “EC2U R&I agenda”, led by University of Salamanca
- WP3 “EC2U People empowerment”, led by University of Coimbra
- WP4 “EC2U R&I platforms”, led by University of Pavia
- WP5 “EC2U Innovation sphere”, led by University of Jena
- WP6 “EC2U Knowledge ecosystems”, led by University of Iasi
- WP7 “Open EC2U”, led by University of Turku
- WP8 “Transformation dissemination”, led by University of Poitiers
The University of Jena is spearheading activities in the field of innovation. "In our work package ‘Innovation Sphere‘, we want to create offerings to further bring together the spheres of science, business and urban society," explains Dr. Dana Strauß of JenaVersum. Plans include networking the research and transfer institutions of the European partners, discussing the conditions for innovation to succeed and publishing them in a joint "cookbook for innovation”. A university- and city-wide makeathon on the topic of "Reinvent the Future" is planned for 2023, where all interested parties can contribute their own ideas.
