The work situation analysis is a method for identifying work-related, mostly negative stress and for developing opportunities for improvement. It provides a quick and comprehensive analysis of the current situation as well as starting points for change. The aim is to develop proposals for improving the work situation in individual departments or work areas.

Procedure of a work situation analysis

A moderated discussion between the employees and an external expert is organized. This discussion is preceded by a preliminary discussion with the supervisor of the work area. The group is led by an external moderator, who creates the opportunity for participants to express themselves impartially, even on difficult problems. Active participation is achieved through the metaplan technique and the use of cards.

  1. Identification, definition and prioritisation of work-related stresses
  2. Joint development of solution approaches/possible solutions
  3. Preparation of a protocol by the moderator on recognised stresses and associated solutions
  4. Discussion of the results/derivation of measures
  5. Customised implementation of developed solutions with needs-based support options
