Welcome
event for new doctoral candidates
At the event "Welcome to
the doctorate" on 22 October, the Graduate Academy
gives all new doctoral candidates an overview of the
offerings of Friedrich Schiller University Jena. They
get to know representatives of the doctoral council
(DR.FSU) and a doctoral candidate gives them a
humorous insight into the everyday doctorate life. In
the second part of the event, the new doctoral
candidates have the possibility to swap ideas on
different themes of the doctorate over coffee and
cake. Following this, they can join a pub crawl
organised by the DR.FSU.
Further information can
be found here.

New
offer of FSU: Seminar Series on Leadership Ethics for
Natural Scientists
Many of those who have
studied natural and life sciences will be working in
leading positions during their career: May it be as a
junior research group leader, as head of a laboratory
or in a position in higher management. To this day,
however, questions of how to lead people and the
ethical problems that may be connected to this, have
not been part of student or doctoral education.
The workshop series
„Leadership ethics“ wants to address this topic and
creates a first offer. Developed in cooperation with
the Ethics Center of the university, it will cover
questions about the role of leadership and ethics in
everyday job life as well as the role of companies in
a society with a growing focus on sustainability.
The workshop series will
be held in German language. You can register by
sending an e-mail to lena.saniye.guengoer@uni-jena.de
or c.hoffmann@uni-jena.de,
or via Friedolin.
Further information may be found here
(in German).
