Virtual
photo competition: Doctoral hat by Thomas Siefke
chosen as most beautiful hat!
The vote for the photo

hats have been chosen! With a great participation of
more than 300 votes, the hat of Thomas Siefke from the
Institute of Applied Physics was chosen as the most
beautiful, inspiring and creative doctoral hat. The

a knight can be moved on his daily quest within the
castle.

the hat of Felix Weidinger. The team of Graduate
Academy would like to thank all for their active

Academic
employment law: Corona-related extension of maximum
employment period
Due to the corona
pandemic, the academic employment law
(Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz) has been
supplemented by a temporary regulation: The maximum
employment period (usually 6 years until the doctorate
and 12 years in total) can be extended by 6 months.
This only applies to employment contracts for
qualification purposes that are in place between 1
March 2020 and 30 September 2020 and in which the
scientific work has been restricted by the pandemic.
If you are close to the
end of your maximum employment period, please speak to
your supervisor. It is the responsibility of your
supervisor to assess whether there is a
pandemic-related delay and whether it is possible to
extend the contract. Unfortunately, the university
cannot provide additional funds for extensions.

New
funding scheme of DAAD for research stays during the

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has been
offering a new programme to support research stays
