- Mental Health Day 2020 Webinar Series
The Jena School for Microbial Communications is
offering a series of short daily webinars covering
several aspects of mental health in the week of the
5th to the 10th of October. There is no need to
register – just click the links provided at this
website to attend the online presentations.
- Welcome event for new doctoral candidates
At the online event "Welcome to the doctorate" on 12
October, the Graduate Academy will welcome all new
doctoral canditates. They will get an overview of
the offerings of Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
All new doctoral candidates have received an
invitation via e-mail by us.
- Career Day „PhD – What´s next?“
At the Career Day on 3 November doctoral candidates
and postdocs will gain insights into career
possibilities in academia and get the opportunity to
explore strategies for applications outside
academia. The event will be held in English and
German. Further information will follow soon.

Get
involved
- The doctoral council (DR.FSU) is newly
elected and will start its eigth term in October!
This year, the council will consist of seventeen
elected members. The council always welcomes
new members who are willing to contribute their
ideas. If you would like to know more about it,

or contact them at dr.fsu@uni-jena.de!
- The „Junge Akademie“ represents an
interdisciplinary platform for up-and-coming
academics. Next year the Junge Akademie will again
elect ten new members. It is looking for committed
and excellent young researchers with an interest in
interdisciplinary work at the crossroads of science,
art, society and politics. Click here

This

- As of this year, the City of Jena provides a list
of Jena medical practicioners who speak foreign
languages. This may help international
researchers to find suitable medical support. The
list is based on a voluntary survey that is
conducted on a regular basis. The list will be
updated regularly. You can find the current version
on our
website and on this
website.
- Jena microbiologist Johanna Kirchhoff has been
awarded "Deutscher Studienpreis 2020"
(German Study Prize 2020). She was honoured for her
dissertation on the topic of antibiotic resistance
with one of the three top prizes for excellent
dissertations with outstanding relevance to society.

Latest
News from the Friedrich Schiller University Jena
- On September 7th, the foundation-stone for the new
building "Campus Inselplatz" was officially
set in a ceremonial act. By the year 2025, new
buildings for the university computer centre, the
Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and the
Institute of Psychology, among others, will be
constructed there. A total of 190 million euros will
be invested in the new campus. More information can

- Since this year there is a newsletter for
teaching at the Friedrich Schiller University
Jena. The newsletter is issued by the Vice-President
for Learning and Teaching and appears quarterly. The
