Wenn Sie vor der Frage stehen, welche beruflichen Möglichkeiten es für Sie außerhalb der Wissenschaft gibt, möchten wir Sie durch einen Karriereabend inspirieren. Wir haben Natur- und Lebenswissenschaftler und -wissenschaftlerinnen eingeladen, die nach ihrer Promotion in außeruniversitären Arbeitsfeldern tätig geworden sind. Sie werden über ihre Tätigkeitsfelder und die Wege dorthin berichten.
Die Veranstaltung wird in Kooperation von Graduierten-Akademie und Jena School for Microbial Communication (JSMC) durchgeführt. Sie findet am 23. Juni von 18 bis 20 Uhr im JSMC Hörsaal in der Neugasse 23 statt. Anschließend wird es ein kleines Get-together mit kalten Getränken und Snacks geben. Die Liste der Referentinnen und Referenten finden Sie hier. Die Vorträge werden in Englisch gehalten.

Im Sommersemester 2014 finden wieder Wahlen zum Rat der Graduierten-Akademie und zum Rat der Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden der FSU (DR.FSU) statt. Im Zeitraum vom 17. Juni 14 Uhr bis zum 26. Juni 14 Uhr können Sie online Ihre Stimme abgeben. Alle Wahlberechtigten bekommen vorab per Post ihre persönliche TAN und per E-Mail ihre persönliche PIN zugeschickt. Informationen zum Wahlverfahren und zu den Kandidaten finden Sie hier.

Am 18. Juni ab 16 Uhr findet der Stifterlauf der Jenaer Bürgerstiftung statt. Dabei handelt es sich um einen Benefiz-Lauf, mit dem Geld für das Kinderprojekt "Schatzheber" gesammelt wird: Pro Runde (500 Meter) spendet die Volksbank 50 Cent. Das Erasmus Student Network Jena (ESN Jena) möchte mit möglichst vielen internationalen Studenten und Doktoranden am Lauf teilnehmen. Auf diese Weise soll viel Geld "erlaufen" werden und gezeigt werden, wie international Jena ist. Am Ende wird es auch ein ESN-Nationen-Ranking und Preise für die besten Läufer und das beste Land geben.
Internationale Doktoranden sollten sich über das ESN anmelden, um am Ranking und der Vergabe der Preise teilzunehmen. Die Anmeldung finden Sie hier.

Haben Sie Interesse an gründungsrelevanten Themen, eine konkrete Gründungsidee oder suchen Sie ein Gründungsteam in dem Sie Ihre eigenen Vorstellungen verwirklichen wollen?
Wie jedes Jahr, lädt das Gründerzentrum auch in diesem Jahr wieder recht herzlich ein, an der Ferienakademie zum Gründungsmanagement teilzunehmen. Dieses Jahr findet die Ferienakademie vom 22. bis 26. September statt. Damit der Erfolg auf dem Weg in die Selbständigkeit wahrscheinlicher wird, werden dort Vorträge angeboten zu Themen wie Inhalte eines Businessplans, Arbeitsrecht, Finanzierungs- und Fördermöglichkeiten, Markt, Wettbewerb und Marketing.

Das Servicezentrum Forschung und Transfer lädt am 11. Juni gemeinsam mit dem Institut für Informatik zum Tag der Forschung 2014 unter dem Motto „Die digitale Gesellschaft“ ein. Von 10 bis 22 Uhr gibt es in den Rosensälen und am Campus Ernst-Abbe-Platz Ausstellungen, Fachvorträge, eine Poster-Session, einen Workshop sowie eine Podiumsdiskussion zum Film „Minority Report“. 02. Juli veranstaltet das Servicezentrum Forschung und Transfer eine Informationsveranstaltung zu den Fördermöglichkeiten der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). Die DFG bietet eine Vielzahl von Förderformaten, die der wissenschaftliche Nachwuchs zielgerichtet nutzen kann, um eigene FuE-Projekte umzusetzen oder eine eigene Nachwuchsgruppe aufzubauen. Die Veranstaltung findet im kleinen Rosensaal von 14:30 bis 16:30 Uhr statt. Weitere Informationen und Anmeldung finden Sie hier.

LehreLernen bietet hochschuldidaktische Weiterbildungsprogramme
an. Mit
diesem Angebot werden Promovierende und Postdocs beim Erwerb
bzw. bei
der Professionalisierung der eigenen Lehrkompetenz unterstützt.

The Graduate Academy cordially invites you to the 6th "Sommerfest" on June 5th, 18:30 h in the courtyard of the House for Young Researchers “Zur Rosen” and in the Rosenkeller (Johannisstr. 13).

If you are thinking about career options outside academia that are attractive for natural and life scientists, there is a career evenings that might inspire your thoughts. For this evening, we invited natural and life scientists who started to work in different fields outside academia after completing their PhD. They are going to talk about their current job and how they managed to find and pursue their individual career path.
This is a joint event of the Graduate Academy and Jena School for Microbial Communication (JSMC). It will take place on June 23rd from 18:15-20:00h in the JSMC auditorium (Neugasse 23). Afterwards there will be a get together with drinks and snacks. The programme and speakers you find here. The language of the presentations will be english.

During the summer term 2014 the elections of the Board of the Academy and the doctoral council (DR.FSU) will again be taking place. It will be an online election from 17 June, 14 h, to 26 June, 14h. All electives will get their personal TAN number (via mail) and their PIN number (via e-mail) beforehand. Information regarding the electoral procedure and the candidates can be found here.
On 18 June the benefactor run of the Jenaer civic charity will take place. It is a benefit run with which money is collected for the children project „Schatzheber“: Per lap (500 metres) the Volksbank will donate 50 cent. The Erasmus Student Network Jena (ESN Jena) would like to participate in the run with as many international students and doctoral candidates as possible. This way, a lot of money is supposed to be collected through running and it is supposed to show how international Jena in fact is. At the end, there will be an ESN-nations-ranking and prizes for the best runners and the best country.
International doctoral candidates ought to register through the ESN in order to participate in the ranking and the awarding of the prizes. The registration can be found here.

Are you interested in topics about setting up a business, do you have your own specific business idea or are you looking for a start-up team to realize your business ideas? Then you are welcome to participate in the annual Summer Academy in Starting Up a Business which is organised by the Gründerzentrum of FSU and takes place between the 22nd and 26th of September. To be expected will be lectures about business planing, labor law, financing, grants as well as further information on markets, competition and marketing. Furthermore, you will meet other parties interested in starting up a business with whom you can converse and network.

The Institute of Informatics and the Service Centre Research and Transfer cordially invite you to the Research Day 2014 on June 11. From 10 to 22h there will be a programme, featuring exhibitions, lectures, a poster session, a workshop and a panel discussion on the movie „Minority Report“. More information is available here.
On 02 July the Service Centre for Research and Transfer will be hosting an information session of the German Research Foundation (DFG). The session focuses on funding opportunities of DFG, which young researchers can use depending on their qualification and ideas to start research projects or their own research group. The session will take place at the small Rosensaal from 14:30 h till 16:30 h. It will be held in German. More information and registration is available here.

The Service Centre LehreLernen offers further education programmes on topics pertaining to teaching at institutions of higher learning. This is meant to offer doctoral candidates and postdocs support in acquiring teaching skills or further developing their teaching competence. Apart from the certification programmes “Teaching Qualification Basic” and “Teaching Qualification Advanced”, both three-day compact courses and one-day workshops on a wide range of topics are offered.
In July, the following workshops are taking place (please note that all of these are conducted in German except for the Compact Course for natural sciences):

It‘s your decision! The new DR.FSU will be elected from the 17th to the 26th of June. You will find information about the candidates on our website. Before the election, you will have the chance to get to know the DR.FSU: the DR.FSU will again have an information and activity booth at the Sommerfest of the GA and we will serve our popular beer Doc-Bräu. The next regulars’ table for PhD-students will be at the 19th of June, 2014, 19:00 at “Die Kneipe” (Wagnergasse).
