Invitation:
Between satisfaction and missing perspectives –
Presentation event of the second Jena Postdoc Survey
on 12 June
The survey amongst
postdoctoral researchers that was conducted by
Graduate Academy in 2016 showed that the majority of
postdocs in Jena are mostly content with their working
situation. Some of the important motivational factors
are the joy of doing research, teaching, and a
positive working environment. However, many of the
interviewees perceived their precarious career
perspectives as a great stress factor. Postdocs tend
to perceive their chances towards a successful
academic career rather sceptically, but they feel
equally little prepared for the career market outside
academia.
These and further results of the Jena postdoc survey
will be presented in the Rosensäle of Jena University
on 12 June. Additionally, a panel discussion will seek
to discuss the possible consequences of these results.
What could various protagonists of the university do,
and what should they do, to improve critical
conditions and become better at meeting the needs of
postdoctoral researchers?
We warmly invite you to
join in the event and the discussion! The event will
be held in German.
Time: 12 June 2019, 14:00 – 15:30 h
Place: Großer Rosensaal, Fürstengraben 27
About the study: For the second time, Jena Graduate
Academy has conducted a survey amongst postdocs in
Jena. In 2016, they were interviewed about the
conditions of their research, teaching, and working
environment, as well as about their general
satisfaction and their career perspectives. The study
was published in December 2018. You can access it as:

Karrierewegen von Jenaer Postdoktorandinnen und
